The mission of the AURAEKO competition is: reducing negative influence of waste electrical and electronic equipment and waste batteries and accumulators on the environment by shaping environment-friendly attitudes of pupils of primary schools and junior high schools.

The way the participants of subsequent editions as well as organisers have made, led to a high recognition of the competition when compared to other initiatives of ecological education in Poland.

By looking at 10 years of output of the AURAEKO competition, it is worth noting that 278 of School Teams took part in it, consisting of 5 students and a supervisor on behalf of a school each. In total, 1,872 participants took part in the competition. They collected the total of 410.5 tons of waste equipment and 19.5 tons of waste batteries and accumulators as a part of the competition. However, that’s not the end of the results. School teams, under the guidance of their Supervisors, have conducted hundreds of interviews in their local environments, have made hundreds of school newspapers, photos, films and performed other activities propagating the mission of the competition in the school environment, among their peers, at home, in their local area and at the national level. This is a significant achievement of the competition and a contribution of the young people in promoting and shaping pro-environment social attitudes. If we see the growing threat to the environment, if we see the threat to the young people themselves resulting from the trend for “legal highs”, all the more we should emphasise and promote positive patterns of behaviour and activities of the young people. Let their achievements, proven in statistics, media and in formal be seen, appreciated and popularised. Let the results achieved through hard work of School Teams and Supervisors be the tip for their peers and society in a broad sense.
